Dr. Sallye Sawyer Scott
Originally from a family of small business entrepreneurs, Dr. Sallye’s dedication to service and community is deeply rooted in her heritage. Her late grandfather, Dr. R.P. McCaa, was Sardis' first dentist. Her other grandfather, the late Roy Sawyer Sr., owned and operated auto and Ford tractor dealerships in Senatobia. Dr. Sallye’s late father, Tom Sawyer Sr., also owned a Ford tractor dealership in Sardis.
After graduating from North Panola High School, Dr. Sallye attended Northwest Community College and the University of Mississippi. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree and, in 1978, received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.
An active member of the Mississippi Optometric Association, Dr. Sallye served two terms on the board of directors and continues to contribute to many committees. She is also a committed member of the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Sallye's passion for helping others extended beyond her practice. She has been blessed to travel on over 20 mission trips to countries such as Russia, Honduras, Mexico, and Panama, where she diagnosed and treated eye diseases, fitted glasses, and evaluated patients for cataract surgery.
Dr. Sallye and her husband, Randy, have three grown children — Heather, Randall, and Samuel — and five grandchildren.
Although Dr. Sallye retired from practice in 2020, her legacy of compassionate care and community service continues to inspire and guide Sawyer Scott Eyecare Center.
